Glen Dael

Glen Dael

Glen Dael is a bright bungalow situated in a quiet residential cul de sac in the historic town of Dornoch in the beautiful county of Sutherland.

The house has been completely refurbished to a high standard and very well equipped to provide warm comfortable accommodation at any time of year. It is mostly double glazed. The large enclosed garden comprises lawns, borders, a few trees and a sunny patio and is gradually being planted to encourage birds and butterflies.

There is ample off street parking for 3 cars which makes it ideal for friends or family groups. The garage provides shelter for bicycles.

The house is within walking distance of the town centre with its cathedral, cafes, restaurants, interesting shops (including bookshop and the Jail gift shop) and the occasional farmers' market. A footpath accessed via the rear garden gate takes you direct to the town centre.

Petrol is 2 miles away at Evelix and groceries and butcher meat in town and nearby supermarkets.

Dornoch is renowned for its beautiful beach and championship links golf course, Royal Dornoch and neighbouring Struie course and is well situated for playing many other courses including some 9 hole courses in scenic locations.

Glen Dael is an ideal base from which to explore the varied scenery of Sutherland including Loch Fleet NNR (seals, wading birds, wildfowl and rare plants), the dramatic Assynt mountains and the west coast; the vast unspoilt terrain of Caithness; the Black Isle( Chanonry Point for dolphin watching) and Inverness, which is an hour's drive away.

There is abundant wildlife in the area and many lovely walks. There are various well known potteries within reach and many places of historic interest including Dunrobin Castle, museum and garden, Culloden battlefield, the Castle of Mey and the Pictish trail. There are also cycling trails and fishing available. Glenmorangie Distillery and the Black Isle Brewery offer interesting tours.

Guest Reviews

The accommodation is very comfortable and well equipped with extensive gardens to the front and rear which would suit a family with young children. Although the accommodation is sited in a quiet residential area of Dornoch it is within a 5min. walking distance to the shops and eateries of the town. We would definitely consider a return visit there
